Chad Smith's Biography

Chad Smith, born on October 15, 1961, in St. Paul, Minnesota, has become one of the most recognizable figures in rock and rhythm.  As drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers, he's sold more than 80 million albums and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Smith's musical footprint is remarkably wide, as he has collaborated with an extraordinary assortment of artists over his career including Ozzy Osbourne, Glenn Hughes, Johnny Cash, John Fogerty, Jennifer Nettles, Kid Rock, Jake Bugg, the Avett Brothers, Joe Satriani, Post Malone, Eddie Vedder, Lana Del Rey, Halsey and Dua Lipa.  He's also a member of the super-group Chickenfoot and Chad Smith and Friends.

Over the last decade, he's been harnessing his rhythm in a unique direction, the creation of fine artwork.   Dubbed Rhythmic Expressionism, this new medium of art enables Smith to build visuals for canvas through his movement behind the drum kit.  The results are remarkable both visually and conceptually. Smith says, "My hope is that it's the emotion, the fluidity and intensity that come across."
