Edgar Malin Craven was born in 1891 in New Jersey. Having spent much of his adult life as a banker, Craven retired from the Greenwich Savings Bank in 1943 at the age of 52. It was then that he devoted the rest of his life to his passion, painting. He studied at the Grand Central School of Art in New York City. Almost immediately, Craven began winning prizes and awards for his artwork: Morris County Art Association in 1944, 1948 and 1954 and at Spring Lake, NJ in 1947 and 1951. He was also elected to the Salmagundi Club as well as the Palm Beach Florida League. Craven was listed in Who's Who in American Art in 1956 through 1959. He died in New Jersey in 1960. |
