Candau was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1954, the same city where he completed his studies at the Fine Arts School. Focusing on the female form, Candau's subjects are goddesses, draped in diaphanous garb, set in idyllic surroundings. There is a softness that envelops his work, his umber and sienna tones set a serene and dreamy atmosphere. The influences of Classicism and the Masters are evident and the results are serene and satisfying. |
