Frances is a Valencian artist born in Mislata, Spain, in 1971. He studied at his local Art School, and then continued his education at the Fine Arts School of Valencia, where his graduated with honors. Frances paints variations of the same subject with very subtle differences. He accomplishes an almost surreal effect with the simplicity of his landscapes. There is always a horizon with foliage silhouetted by a brilliant backlit sunrise or sunset. The rough texture of his canvas enhances the lushness of the foreground. It is interesting how such minimalism in his paintings can achieve such depth and serenity. Frances' work is appreciated in Valencia and its surroundings. He has had many showings at such local entities as banks, Councils as well as art galleries. |
