Erte - Champagne Flutes's Biography

These stunning and unique crystal flutes are designed by Erte, master of the 20th century Art Deco movement. Erte named these glasses "Flute Majestique", since he styled them after the oversized champagne glasses used by the Imperial Czar of Russia in 1892, the time of Erte's Russian birth.

Each glass is 11.5" high with the "Visage de Femme" (face of woman) design that complements Erte's "Visage de Femme" vase. The stem is exquisitely crafted portraying the roles of women in society today; friend, lover, confident, professional, mother and wife. The bulb of the flute is clear so that the champagne can be truly appreciated, and each one is signed by Erte in the mold, near the base of the glass.

Erte had a long and illustrious career in the arts, influencing the world of theatre and costume design, fashion, sculpture, serigraphy and unique objects of art. He died at the age of 98 in 1990.
