Ana Maria Deza was born in Lima, Peru, in 1959. Deza studied painting at the ENBA, from where she graduated with highest honors in 1989. From 1993 until 1997, she concentrated her studies, focusing on etching at ENBA, and again graduated with highest honors. Married to another well established artist, Jose Cortez, Deza has developed a unique abstract style utilizing light and color to intensify her compositions. Deza has exhibited her work in many one-person and group shows and has won many awards for her art.
