Lei Chen was bom in 1969 in Hunan Province, the People's Republic of China.
Chen has a uniquely whimsical yet bold style. He interprets primarily landscapes in an appealing and stylistic way; delightful seaside villages, colorful rooftops, city skylines, hilly countrysides and unique interiors come alive under his finely executed workmanship.
In 1992, Lei Chen won the Award of Excellence at the first bi-yearly Exhibition for Chinese Contemporary Art. Chen was also nominated, in 1995, as "One of the Best Ten Young Artists" by the magazines, Artist and Modern Art. In that same year, his paintings were exhibited at "The Paintings by Six Chinese Artists" in Manchester, England. Then, in 1998, his painting "Phone Moment" was displayed at the exhibition of "Modern Chinese Artists".
