Martin Akoghlyan was born in 1958, in Yerevan, Armenia. He graduated from Panos Terlemezian's Art College in Yerevan in 1977.
Akoghlyan works mainly in expressive seascapes. His canvasses erupt with rough seas, ominous skies and weathered ships. With broad and loose brushstokes, Akoghlyan's paintings evoke the works Winslow Homer and other great seascapists.
Akoghlian has participated in national group exhibitions. From 1992 through 1995, he has had one-man shows in Athens Greece.
In addition, Martin Akoghlyan delivers lectures in Art College in Kanaker, a town in Armenia. He is also a member of the "Union of Artists of Armenia."
