Born in Yerevan City, Armenia, Vanikian Kayts studied at the Art School from 1978 through 1980, and continued his studies at the Faculty of Art and Pedagogical Institute. Today, Kayts stills lives and works in Yerevan. Kayts' paintings are at first impression dark, imbued with heavily applied paints, figures barely discernible, a moodiness pervading every inch of canvas. However, upon further observation, a story seems to appear, light peaks through and the heavy atmosphere seems to lift, resulting in works that are rich in texture and gothic in style. Kayts has shown his work at exhibitions in Armenia and abroad.
