Wilfred was born in Shanghai, China in 1954. His father was a well known Chinese artist of his time. Wilfred learned the art of Chinese painting from his father when he was seven. He attended Shanghai Art School for six years after he finished high school. During this period, he went to China's five great mountains to work on his nature drawing. In 1977 he emigrated to Hawaii, where he made acquaintance with American artists, who inspired him in the modern abstract style. In 1981, he went to Europe where he lived for the next two years. He made his living by selling his work since he first left China. He has earned first prizes in art competitions in Hong Kong and New York. Today he lives in the United States, but he frequently travels to China and Europe. Simultanuously, his paintings contain elements of both Eastern and Western culture. |
